Why is the selling of meat banned every month on the full moon day in Sri Lanka?
Q. The selling of meat, eggs and alcohol are banned...movie theatres are closed, and only buddhist religeous programmes are shown on tv!But the army kills tamil insurgents on this day...selling meat is banned...but killing insurgents is ok? how illogical things can be in this bannana republic called Sri Lanka...an island just below India!

A. The terrorists don't care what day it is when they attack ! What do you suggest ? Should the army just watch while rebels attack and kill them or Innocent people? Eggs and chicken are freely available on Poya days.Go in to any super market and See.The only things that are banned is beef and alcohol.Traditional Buddhists abhor eating beef. Most Sri Lankan people are Buddhist in case you don't know. And movie theaters are closed co'z it's a holiday (mercantile and bank). All countries have customs like this. You have to accept them and live with them.I you think one day of the month is this bad try going to Saudi Arabia ! Alcohol is banned 365 days of the year !
